My Adventure Life

One precious drop of imagination is all it takes to transform the mundane into adventure.

Living my imagination

For me, adventure lives in those sacred moments when I choose to see life from a different angle.

From as early as I can remember I have felt disconnected from the mainstream. Normality has never sat comfortably with me, nor I with those who sought it.  I was the left-hander in a right-handed crowd, an energetic child in a politely mannered family and an imaginative explorer in a world that values rational convention.  My soul was born on the shoulder of the road less traveled.

I grew up on the streets of 1970s Newcastle (Australia) but my heart was always at our family farm in the remote Mt Royal Ranges of the Hunter Valley.  There in the wild isolation I learned to live my imagination and to be self-reliant. Those beloved mountains had complete disregard for my age, gender, or social rules.  They didn't care what my older siblings had said or done.  In any moment I could be tested by them or connected to their deepest secrets.  I didn't get to choose the circumstance or time.  I only got to choose how I responded.

Back then and now, I choose to respond with imagination and determination.
