Huayhuash Solo Trek 2017

The Cordillera Huayhuash is a remote mountain range in the Peruvian Andes, approximately 4 hours' drive from Huaraz.

I completed the solo trek in 5.5 days, with most walkers taking 10-12 days to achieve the same route.  My goal for this trek was to challenge my skills and fitness in unfamiliar terrain.  Most of this 100km trek is more than 4000m ASL with passes reaching 5000m ASL.

Judging by the reaction of locals and workers on the route it is rare to see a female solo trekker in this region.  What started out as a high-intensity fitness training session turned into a life-changing experience that redefined how I view challenge and my own abilities.

Challenge Redefined

During this Sparta Chicks podcast I talk about my time in the Huayhuash and how an experience up on a 5000m ASL pass completely redefined the way I see the world.
